Playing With Others

My husband’s violin teacher felt it was important for some of her adult beginner students to have the experience of playing together. It helps teach timing, having to play in unison with someone else. They were given a few lines of Pachelbel’s Canon in D to practice for a few weeks on their own and at their individual lessons, and then they would come together at her home to play together. This past Sunday was the “recital” and naturally I went along. I think they did pretty well, playing a “round” each beginning at a different time so that the notes ebb and flow around and into one another.

One Word Photo Challenge: Nature

March has been a hard month this year, with back to back snow storms and more snow expected this week. The sun was shining yesterday and I decided to take advantage of it and head out for a walk on one of my favorite trails. There were signs of Spring- birds everywhere and plants pushing their way up through the ground. I focused in on a Sparrow as I sat on a log watching him from only a few feet away. Marveling at his feathers, his resilience to make it through a Northeast winter.

Squaring the Circle in March

Becky at The Life of B is squaring circles in March. Put a circle in a square…

This is a wonderful place in Asbury Park, NJ that shelters adult cats in an environment for play, and also serves as a tea room. The cats have things to play with, places to sleep in an open area where people can interact if they want, and the other side of the store is set up with tables to sit and have tea, while watching the cats behind glass.

If a distant uncle dies and you were always his favorite and leaves you $50,000 (any currency) in his will, what would you do?

Funny, a very distant relative of my husband’s died years ago, he was related to my  husband’s great grandmother’s son, leaving no wife or children and somehow we were named along with 20 other people to receive some money from his estate. It was a little over a thousand dollars as I remember, and it went into the bank, as would $50,000, if we came into that amount!

What sound or sounds do you love?

The ocean and birds. Together is bliss.

What’s your middle name?  Why?

My middle name is Pauline, also my mother’s name, and my my great grandmother’s name.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?

Happy my cable was restored and I got back on the internet and the TV is working. Aside from that, I always feel everyday is something to appreciate.

Bitmoji Fun

Well it’s another day without the internet, making it 6 and 1/2. Today I stayed home from school as I starting getting a cough Sunday night, which was not abating yesterday. A day free from germs, noise and commotion sounded like a good idea. Rest, tea and steaming a better way to go. Especially seeing as I awoke to more snow coming down, which fortunately departed by noon, sticking only to the grass.

I have been coloring, which I love to do and find very relaxing.

Also catching up on the newspapers, where I read about an app that has been around for a while called Bitmoji. It lets you make an avatar of yourself, and has a load of different choices to use when texting instead of the standard emojis a phone comes with. So seeing as I had nothing pressing to do, I created my avatar and spent an hour scrolling through all the many choices they gave me. Here are a few….

I especially like the one with bird (of course)

What do you think?

Hooray for Tax Season

We had a major snowstorm this past Wednesday, which took down the Cable line that connects to our house. That meant no internet, no phone, no TV. We called immediately and the earliest appointment they could give us was Saturday. Did they come on Saturday between 2 and 5? NO!!!! Did they call at 6:30 to say they couldn’t make it? Yes!!! Did they automatically give me the next earliest appointment? NO!!!!! Did they schedule me for Tuesday? Yes!!! Did I lose my voice screaming at them into the phone? Yes!!!!

So that brings us to hooray for tax season. My husband is a CPA and works on Sundays from January until April 15th.

Does his office have internet? Yes. So off I went to work with him today, where I am happily catching up on WordPress, answering emails, ordering from Amazon, and doing all of the important things I usually do at home on my computer.

Hooray for Tax Season.

I Miss My Computer

We had a pretty major snowstorm here on Wednesday.

Almost a foot of heavy snow, weighing down the branches on trees and ripping my cable line from the hook it was attached to on the house, stretching it across the street to the pole. We watched as cars drove under it, waiting for one of them to rip it down. Meanwhile, it was still working. Then the Police showed up, and with a snip, cut it down. There went the landline, TV, and internet service. That was Wednesday. Soonest the cable company can get here? Saturday afternoon.

I am an “old fashioned” girl who likes a computer and mouse and finds tapping things out on a cell phone an exercise in frustration. I am thankful my lights are on as around the corner a tree pulled wires down and out went the lights.

I am eating up my data on my phone with no Wi-Fi at home, but such is life, a girls got to do what a girls got to do. Check in with WordPress, emails, Instagram and Facebook. Google News, and weather.

The day of the storm my husband had a scheduled violin lesson, and rather than miss it he decided to walk the 3 blocks to the teacher’s house. I decided to go along, a nice way to spend an hour on a snowy day.

Oh and how long did it take me to write this post, which normally would have taken maybe 8 minutes? A half an hour!!! Until I figured out how to insert photos and continually correct autocorrect!!!

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Leaves or Trees

Well it is not so much fun today here in New Jersey as we are experiencing a major snow storm. The snow is coming down at a rate of 2 to 3 inches an hour, and as pretty as it looks, it is wet and heavy and causing the branches to sag. As the end of daylight approaches, it still seems light outside because everything is so white.

So here are some snowy trees for the challenge

Expressions Younger Kids Won’t Understand

WHY DO WE “DIAL” A PHONE?
To call someone on an old phone, you had to stick your finger in a rotating dial at number positions that would turn the dial for various lengths of time when released. You had to do the entire number every time.

My childhood phone number ended in 1 0 9 8… you can imagine the frustration when someone was trying to call me in a hurry!
