A Photo a Week Challenge: Posterity

Posterity: noun: all future generations of people. The descendants of a person.

Ah, posterity. Families, generations. My husband’s paternal grandparents perished in the holocaust. His own parents came to America in 1938 along with his mother’s 3 siblings and parents. My husband’s father was one of eight boys and they all were able to flee Germany, allowing the generations of Rosenfelds to continue in America, Argentina and Uruguay.

In the photo below, my husband and his four children circa 1988. He is holding his youngest. The oldest is wearing the striped shirt. In the next photo the woman holding the baby is the girl in the striped shirt in the photo on the left. She is holding her grandchild, whose mother is blonde and standing second to her right. The boy on the left is her son, the dark haired girl her other daughter and the boy in shorts another son. Far right is her son in law.

My husband is holding his youngest daughter, that daughter is standing with her oldest child and holding her youngest. She has three boys in between the two girls.

My husband with his third child, she is seated with three of her five children.

Grandchildren…the generations continue..

and the great grandchildren

Where it began…my husband is the young boy sitting on the ground. His maternal grandparents seated center, his brother standing in back, his father on the left, mother on the right.
