The year was 1983, I was 25, and it was my first trip to Europe. My sister and I were traveling together, but she left a week before me. I flew at night, on a plane that had seating on a 2nd level, I remember it being very quiet. My sister met me at the airport, I scanned the faces on the other side of the gate searching for her, overwhelmed by the signs in French and being in a completely new place. My Aunt was living in Paris at the time, so off we went to her home, to unpack and then explore the streets. So many years ago but I can still remember it so vividly.

Lucky to have a family member there! Great post – it makes me (try) and remember what fun thing I might have done at 25.

Some things do stand out… others only retrieved with prompting and reminders from others who may have been there! 🙂

Thanks Brian- it was fun pulling up those old photos… way back when. My Aunt took the photo of the 2 of us- she liked the name of the boat behind us was Nomadic- as we had been in Paris, left to travel through Italy and then returned to Paris 🙂

It was wonderful. When my husband and I were in London we took the train through the chunnel and did a whirlwind 1 day tour! He had never been before

Yes!! I remember my first taste of pain au chocolat when we stopped in a bakery… heaven!!! My aunt’s apartment balcony overlooked the Eiffel Tower… we watched the fireworks on Bastille day from there 🙂
