Square Skies in December

Becky at The Life of B has gone square again for the month of December. Her daily photo challenge – a square photograph, and the theme is sky.

I grew up during a time when Bald Eagles were extinct. Seeing these majestic birds now as an adult after they have made a “come back” thanks to the pesticide DDT no longer being in use, I am always awe struck.

  1. For a while, we had a pair of them nesting in our woods. There are many of them in Massachusetts, especially around here where there are so many rivers and up north where the rivers are even deeper. At least we managed to rescue ONE species!

    • Yes, the ones near us fly to you and north in the summers- quite something to see and let’s hope 45 doesn’t undo everything and send us back to the days of extinction!

  5. Such wonderful birds – one of the first times I saw them was when I was on the train between Chicago and San Francisco, looked out and there was one flying alongside us 🙂 just amazing to watch

I have since been fortunate enough to fly one myself at a Hawk Conservancy. Only the male as the females are too heavy for amateurs to fly!
