Instinct

Instinct or innate behavior is the inherent inclination of a living organism towards a particular complex behavior.

I am always amazed at the power of instinct when it comes to animals and birds. This seagull’s instinct allowed it to fly above this body of water and spot a fish below the surface

This Eagle’s instinct allowed him to swoop in and steal it

He made off with it. Another day of instinct in play

  1. The instinct that animals and birds and fish have is amazing. No one has a mentor, really, like we do who actually tells them what to do. And a lot of stuff they don’t learn by watching an adult. We were watching a documentary the other night and there was a scene where a lynx was stalking a deer, then catching up to it and pouncing. but they cut away just before the kill. At the end of the film, there was a disclaimer that stated no animals were harmed, etc. So we watched the specials after the show and it showed how they were raised together and were actually friends. So that instinct for the lynx to kill, or the deer to fear was somehow “trained” out of them.

    • that is quite amazing. I suppose that is taming- it must take an awful lot to remove that innate ability from an animal- but then again they are so smart, maybe not.
