Travel Theme: Camping

I’m not really a camping kind of girl. I love nature, wildlife, and walking in nature. I have no desire to sleep under the stars listening to sounds of croaking toads, howling wolves and thinking about the ticks and ants crawling around and the bears looking for food. I read an article a few years ago about Glamping- glamorous camping. When you’re glamping, there’s no tent to pitch, no sleeping bag to unroll, no fire to build. Glamping is a way to experience the great outdoors without sacrificing luxury. Not that I have ever done it, but it would certainly be more up my alley.

In the meantime I will stick to the indoors with an outdoor view and places nearby to visit by day, and sleep tucked in within 4 walls and 3 flights up, in an old B & B – as my husband and I did in beautiful Ocean Grove NJ.107

  1. I missed this really great photo of your husband and you! 🙂 I am on my first day of vacation at my Mom’s! We had such long work days. . . I apologize for being less able to “keep up” with you, Lisa! Beautiful and pleasant accommodations, plus a romantic view at night! ❤

  2. I have done quite a bit of camping, both sleeping under the stars, tenting and camper caravan. And I have absolutely loved it all. However, Sleeping under the stars and tenting does no longer appeal to me. I guess I have outgrown the like of crawling on my knees and rolling around in the mud. Glamping would be way more up my alley, and is what we will do this summer 🙂

  3. I really do enjoy camping, but you won’t see me turning up my nose at a nice B&B! Is Ocean Grove similar to Cape May? It’s chock-full of B&Bs there!

  4. Although camping is getting more difficult as I age, I’ve always loved it. But your B & B looks pretty darn comfy, Lisa!

  5. I would do the camping – not as a habit, but occasionally in one of those places where the stream babbles all night, and the stars blaze. But my wife would be a nearby motel, or maybe a small simple RV.
About Ocean Grove, we have walked the streets and been to many times, never tiring of its beautiful victorian architecture, summer concerts on the green by the Great Auditorium, and the ice cream. M 🙂

  6. I agree with you I’m also no ” happy camper”. We did it once and it was a disaster… my parents were unable to build up the tent and we spent the first night in the car… together with 87k mosquitos… :o(
