I am a big fan of summer. The heat doesn’t bother me, I much prefer it to the winter and the cold. The older I get the less tolerance I have for cold. My husband and I are never at odds about the house being too hot or too cold as many couples are. We both are always cold. In the winter we crank up the heat, and in the summer we barely use our air conditioners. This week we are in the midst of a heat wave with temps staying in the 90’s. I will admit the humidity doesn’t thrill me, but I just think back to the snowfilled, chilling winter we had this past year and I forget I’m a little sticky.
It was even too hot for this squirrel who found respite on a branch. I was sitting outside reading and amazed that he didn’t move for close to 15 minutes.

I’m like you, I love the warmth as i am always cold too. I do not sweat easily and I do not like aircons. Sit in the shade read a book , have a drink , I can bear heat very well. 🙂
Love that squirrel!

Glad to hear I am not the only one! Shade a book and a drink perfect!

This is so interesting (and reading others’ comments)…in my 20s I was always cold. Living in both Southern and Northern California, the temps are pretty easy to deal with. In Sacramento it is very hot in the summer, but dry unless a monsoon from Mexico makes it up here into the mountains. When I hit the big M, I am now ALWAYS hot and I hate it. I need cool or cold air from March to October 🙂

I have heard that from a lot of people- not uncommon- those hormones and lack of them wreak havoc! I have always been sensitive to the cold- I can remember as a kid always turning the heat up in the house and getting yelled at for doing it! California weather is my favorite 🙂

If it weren’t for the humidity, I wouldn’t use nearly as much air conditioning, but the humidity has been near 100% every day for the past week and a half. I don’t want it in the bedding and furniture because the next thing we’ll have is mold, which I like even less than snow, if you can imagine that. Snow at least stays outside. The mold will happily take over the house. So air conditioning — and the new, wonderful invention on the A/C — the dehumidify setting!!

the humidity is the killer- and the thought of that mold….. 😛 definitely worse than snow

Nice post Lisa and great photo of the beauty. I prefer the warm to the heat too, even we now have heatwave no. 3 and no. 4 is on the way. We do also stay in the 90 F +, around 34 C. + here now. Very hot and humid.

I do too, but it is only July and 3 years ago in September, we had two heatwaves with 46 C. – 114,8 F, so let us see and hope Lisa 🙂

I’m so grateful for air conditioning here in Florida. Walking outside in summer is like being in an oven. I’m not sure if I prefer hot or cold. I like the temperature just right. I’m very fussy. 🙄

It’s hard to imagine living in Florida in the summer without air conditioning! We used to vacation in Miami Beach in July!

We are dying here. Heat warnings every day. Temps are in the mid- to high-90’s and heat indexes are around 110. Too hot!

Heat waves with temps in the 90’s and no break can be trying I will admit- heat indexes at 110 unbearable (and dangerous!)

I agree, I’d much rather have this weather where all things are possible than the bone crunching cold and snow that keeps everyone locked away.

I would always rather be too cold than too hot because it’s a lot easier to do something about being too cold than it is to do something about being too hot.

I have heard that from many people, but I would still rather be warm! Once I am cold I often can’t shake it- no matter how many layers I put on

Great squirrel photo! I notice the squirrels get pretty wiped out by the heat here too.

maybe it ‘s a squirrel-sloth? I’m with you, I totally dislike the cold… and I wonder that I spent so much time outside in winter … even to remember that time makes me shiver :o) Currently our summer is a little lazy, we got dark clouds and rain from UK :o( my favorite season is fall, you can wear your new boots without looking like a doofus and without the cold :o)
